Hi i'm working on a project involving the control of 2 stepper motors attached to a small scale lathe via a computer. The first stepper motor controls the depth of the cut into the material and the second stepper motor controls the horizontal position of the cutting tool along the length of the workpiece.

The motors I am working with are quite old and I am having trouble finding out what input translates into what output.

Here are the motor specifications:
Brand: Superior electric Slo-Syn Synchronous/Stepping motor
Type: MO61-FC08
Steps: 200 per revolution
1.25 V 3.8 A DC
Spec: BM101025

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Please specify the following:
a) number of wires coming from steppers
b) have you already got a driver board ( connected to motors)
c) if b = yes, what interfaces does that have?
cheers

Hi
I apologise sincerely for the delay in replying.

There are six wires coming from the stepper motor.
There is no driver board at the moment. Any advice on what driver board to get?

An idea that has been voiced is to use a Barix Barionet for the control of the system.

Cheers
